The Social Development Studies Center has a vision to become a research and service institution in the field of social development that plays a role in promoting equitable social development. SODEC carries out research, community service, training, and publication activities that focus on social policy issues, community empowerment, and corporate social responsibility.

About SODEC

Research conducted by SODEC includes but is not limited to social mapping research and needs assessment for CSR programs and development in general, program evaluation in the form of monitoring and evaluation, community satisfaction index, and economic multiplier effects, Social License Index for CSR programs, exit strategy studies. In addition, SODEC also provides consultation and assistance for CSR programs, regulation drafting, planning, and institutionalization of development programs.

The research was conducted using mixed method data gathering (household survey, in-depth interviews, and FGDs) to understand the condition of sustainable livelihoods in an area. In addition, social mapping also produces an analysis of actors in the community. With the data obtained, the government, businesses and communities, can map out appropriate community development programs according to the conditions and problems faced.

The Social License Index (SLI) is a quantitative research design that can describe the level of perception of stakeholders including government, NGOs, communities and other business entities towards the existence of industrial activities in the region. The results of the SLI are very useful for the industry to determine the right stakeholder engagement strategy in complex social, economic, political and environmental dynamics.

This study is conducted in an interdisciplinary manner involving a variety of disciplines that are relevant to the context of the area being studied. The advantage of this innovation study is that it provides an overview of innovative efforts that can be made that are in line with social, economic and environmental sustainable development goals.

Measuring the satisfaction of the community/recipients of the community empowerment program regarding 14 aspects of the implementation of a program starting from the planning stage, process, output to the benefits produced.

Monitoring and Evaluation is a study of the achievement of a program’s objectives compared to the planning that has been prepared. The analysis in this study is based on a logical framework from input to impact.

Studi efek pengganda ekonomi bertujuan memberikan gambaran mengenai dampak pelaksanaan program terhadap perputaran uang, pendapatan, dan pekerjaan di suatu wilayah.

SROI studies present the economic, social, and environmental impacts experienced by stakeholders as a result of the implementation of a program and compare the value of the impact to the investment spent.

Data review is useful for reviewing the fulfillment of community empowerment criteria in a program. This activity results in a number of corrective actions and plans for future program development.

In collaboration with program organizers, SODEC provides field assistance and consultation services for program development. CSR program assistance to Corporate Partners can be through the placement of Community Development Officers (CDOs) who are alumni of the Department of Social Development and Welfare FISIPOL UGM.

The training aims to equip those in charge, decision makers and implementers of CSR programs within the company. Providing briefings related to CSR program management and community development implementation strategies in the community.

Journal of Social Development Studies

The Journal of Social Development Studies (JSDS) publishes peer-reviewed articles on all widespread social development issues both in Indonesia and in countries of the wider world region. The journal aims to encourage knowledge sharing between academics, scholars and practitioners in the field of social development.
